Returning to Tokyo

Woke up early to catch our flight to Honolulu. At the Honolulu airport we had a few hours to kill before returning back to Tokyo. We killed the hours by walking around and checking the duty free shopping. We also had a lunch. Then just before boarding we bought a sandwich and water to bring on board. We had ordered fruit plates as meals on board so the sandwich was a great supplement.

The flight was uneventful. We watched some movies, read some, and slept for an hour.

Makapuu Beach

Slept-in this morning. Then we bought some sandwich and went to the Makapuu beach not far from Honolulu. It was a nice beach with quite a lot of people… Compared to Kauai. Still, it was nice in the water and hot in the sand.

It was quite big waves so in the afternoon we went to another beach closer to Waikiki. Mostly local people here and much calmer in the water. We stayed until 5 or s before returning to the hotel.

At 7 pm we had dinner at the Tako-no-ki, a Japanese restaurant run by Japanese. It was tasty, although not as tasty as we have had in Tokyo.

Going on Vacation to Honolulu

It’s Saturday and we have to travel again. However, this time it is only for pleasure. Chie and I are going to Hawaii. First stop is Honolulu. We will stay there for two days and then continue to Kauai.

We slept almost the whole flight. I woke up the last 2 hours or so before arriving at Honolulu international airport in the morning the same day we left Tokyo. We got our bags, got our rental car, checked in at the hotel (although we could not get the room just yet), and went shopping.

Honolulu

Besides buying some things for Chie we also had the chance to visit an Apple store to try the new iPhone. It’s pretty cool, although I will not buy it when it is released in Sweden. I would like to have 3G-capability and not simple GSM before I buy it.

After shopping we had a short rest at the hotel. Then it was time for dinner at Duke’s. Chie had grilled scampi on a bed of pasta and I had grilled Ahi (yellowtail tuna) with seven spices and herbs. It was great, both dishes.

When I woke up this morning I had an hour to get ready before the bus came and picked me up. I was going to the airport to meet Chie coming in from Tokyo.

During that hour I had time to get breakfast at the pool side. A funny thing happened. A Japanese group also came to have breakfast. The sat at the table next to me. One of the guys in the group (maybe he was 50 years old) came with his breakfast. He had to walk around a chair and accidentally put his right foot over the edge of the pool and fell into it. SPLASH!!! It was hard not to laugh.

Then I went to the airport to meet Chie. We then got a rental car and went back to the hotel to leave Chie’s bags. Then we went shopping at Nieman Marcus and Nike Town.

At 5:30 pm we went to Duke’s for a dinner. Chie had Shrimp Scampi and I had Mochonong or something like that. A white fish prepared Duke’s Firecracker way. All of it was very tasty.

After dinner we went back to the hotel. Took a shower and went to bed. Jet-lagged.

Going to Hawaii

Early wakup in the morning to get to the airport in time for my flight to Newark. In Newark I had another connection flight direct to Honolulu. The whole trip was 9+10 = 19 hours. I arrived at the hotel in Honolulu some 25 hours or so after leaving home this morning. Quite tired I am.
