Bicycle Accident

Was riding my bike to the office as usual. Almost at the office there is a steep downhill that curves to the left then to the right before flattening out at Futakotamagawa. When I came out of the left curve there was a man I. The middle of my lane on his way over to the other side. I start to break as he turns to look at me. There is enough space for me to pass him on the inside away from his direction.

He the turns back to were he came from, his back towards me. I hit the breaks fully. No way to escape the hit.

I manage to stay on my feet while he falls to the ground. I help him up on his feet. Sees that his eye glasses are in pieces. And one of his shoes are a couple of meters uphill under my bike. His gloves are torn in the palm of the hands. And there’s a small hole on the right knee of his Adidas pants. But besides a sore left hand he seems alright.

We talk about exchanging addresses but neither of us have a pen. So we walk back to his home, and while I wait outside he went in and got a pen and paper. Then he went in again to get his business card and we exchange my name and address with his business card.

Later, arriving at the office, I feel that the right side of my face is painful and feels swollen. And I have difficulties eating breakfast as the teeth on my right upper side is somewhat painful. Have to skip the chewy things like cabbage.

I realize my face must have hit the hard part of the back of his head.

Looking forward to a colorful face in a few days.

  1. Yikes! That sucks… apart from not having to eat cabbage.

If you don’t already have one, buy a helmet! Hope you’ll have a speedy recovery (no pun intended this time).

    • Since in Tokyo I wear a helmet all the time (when I ride a bike šŸ˜‰ The big problem was that I was hit in the face šŸ™ Thinking about bringing back the football helmet šŸ˜‰
