Going to Tokorozawa for New Year

After making a lot of preparations we finally got off to Tokorozawa to celebrate the new year with Coco. Almost directly after getting to Tokorozawa I took Coco for a walk. We passed a field with horse radish (daikon in Japanese) that looked more like someone had plunged them into the soil than they were growing out of it 🙂

In the evening we all enjoyed shabu-shabu for dinner. Well, Coco had to manage without shabu-shabu, but he got a yummy dog dish instead 😉

Tea Ceremony and Coco

At 1 pm I knocked on the door of my sensei. It was time for the monthly tea ceremony class. It went well and I left a little bit early as I was catching a train to Tokorozawa.

In Tokorozawa Chie was waiting for me at the Musashi where we had dinner, before returning home to Coco. He was very happy to see us again 🙂

Walking Coco the Dog

This weekend we went to Tokorozawa. It was quite some time since we last visited Coco the dog. He was quite excited to see us again. Though as usual a bit reluctant to walk with me at first. But once he get a sniff of the “real world” he likes it. And although it is autumn it is still warm – around 25 degrees this weekend.

Saturday night we had dinner at Musashi. A family run Japanese style restaurant in Shin-Tokorozawa. The food was great as usual 🙂

Sunday night we had hot pot at home. A spicy variant. Yummy! We also had 3 other dishes on the side (potato and asparagus in a creamy cause, chicken thigh and horse radish, and sanma (fish) with ginger). All very yummy 🙂

Semi & Eggs in Tokorozawa

Went to Tokorozawa for a short visit to Coco the dog. We went there already on Friday night. On Saturday I took Coco the dog for a walk, which he enjoyed very much… I think.

This time of the year you find semi (cicadas) everywhere in Japan. And Tokorozawa is no exception. Although they are quite small their sound is quite loud.

Coco the dog and I also found out that in Japan eggs are grown on plants rather than coming from hens 😉

Coco the Dog…

Always when we are in Tokorozawa most of our attention is on Coco the dog. He is just too cute. Even cuter than I am 😉 And Coco the dog usually loves being in the center of attention. Though when Chie (the dog?) tried to steal his chewy chicken meat stick he was not so happy. Which I can totally understand.

But even though Chie sometimes steals his meat sticks, Coco loves Chie. When she is not around he just goes crazy for a while and then sits and waits for her. If we are at home his favorite spot is on top of the back of a chair in the living room where he can watch the garden and street outside. If we are in the car he takes a position where he can look out the window towards the direction from where Chie will return.

Truth is, he is a strange dog. But a very cute one 🙂
