Shabu-shabu at Home

Friday night. I could leave the office at 6:30 pm because the teleconference meeting with Sweden was cancelled. I hurried home and bought beer and coke but forgot to buy Ume-chu (plum wine). Chie was really angry 😉

We were having Jimmy and Emma visiting for dinner, Shabu-shabu (hot pot were meat and vegetables are cooked in bullion). The Ume-chu was for Emma. So I went to the 7-Eleven store and bough a bottle. And both Chie and Emma was happy 🙂

We had dinner for 2-3 hours. Dipping, eating, talking, enjoying. Afterwards we were totally full.

Still, after just a few minutes resting we could find some more space for strawberries and ice cream. And then we had to break up and get Jimmy and Emma to the station to catch one of the last trains. Time flies when you are having fun.

With Jimmy & Emma at Iroha-sushi

Chie and I met Jimmy and Emma at the Naka-meguro station at 6 pm. We had planned to go to Iroha-sushi in Naka-meguro for dinner.

Chef at Iroha-sushi

It was Jimmy and Emma’s first time at a real sushi restaurant. So we tried a lot of different fishes and shells. It seemed they liked the ankimo, chu-toro, o-toro, and buri the most. All fatty fishes.

Most amazing? The rattling fish sashimi! We ordered aji for sashimi. As usual at Iroha-sushi the fish is cut so that it can be used as decoration. The fish is so fresh its body is still rattling when it is served.

When we had filled our bellies with delicious fishes we walked slowly back home. We only made one brief stop. To buy ice cream, which we brought back home.

Raider Nation Japan at Yoshiman

After work I went to Tokyo Station to meet Jimmy and Emma. They came back from Osaka by the Shinkansen train. And I was helping them to find their way to the Sawanoya ryokan in Nezu area.

We met at the Yamate-sen platform and continued with Yamate-sen to Ueno station. From there it is just a 20-30 minutes walk to the ryokan along the Ueno park.

Once they safely had reached Sawanoya and checked-in I continued to Nezu station and onto the Chioda-sen to Hibiya. 5 minutes walk and I ended up at Yoshiman restaurant where Raider Nation Japan had a meeting. Eating and talking.

Chie, Moonlight-san & Kurihyu-san at Yoshiman in Ginza

As always we talked mostly about the Raiders. Now the focus was on the poor results of the last few years and what we need to do to prepare for the next season starting in September.

As always we had a fun time. Despite feeling miserable about Raiders performance.

Visiting Coco in Tokorozawa

Arriving a little bit late in Tokorozawa due to us waiting for Yoshiki-san to finish a business meeting. In Tokorozawa I had tea and okashi as usual. Yummy.

In the evening we had shabu-shabu for dinner. Thin sliced meat and vegetables that we cooked in a bullion on gas stove at the table. Of course we can do something similar in Sweden but I doubt that we can find meat of the right quality.

Revolutionary Road with Club Leo

Went to the gym in the morning while Chie went to Chloe family sales in Roppongi. We met in Ginza outside the Piccadilly movie theater at 3:45 pm. We were meeting Non and Ryo too to watch the Revolutionary Road movie. It was the latest Leonardo DiCaprio movie. Quite good.

Afterwards we had dinner at a Thai restaurant in Ginza 5 building. I always forget the name of this restaurant. We had a fun time.
