Final Sakura Report

Full bloom! Riding my bike along the Meguro river on my way home from work. Always a little bit extra pleasant when you can enjoy cherry blossom (sakura), I say extra pleasant because it is always pleasant to ride home from work 🙂

Sakura Report #6

Chie and I walked along the Meguro river to Naka-Meguro and as you can see the cherry trees are about 75% in blossom. In Naka-Meugro it was a lot of people, as usual.

I still think that my prediction that peak blooming will be around mid next week holds true 🙂

Sakura Report #5

Chie and I went to Tokyu Store in Naka-Meguro for some grocery shopping. In Naka-Meguro the cherry trees had much more flowers than close to our apartment. The peak here is probably beginning to mid next week.

Sakura Report #4

This morning just a few more flowers could be seen. Most trees along Meguro river looked like in the picture to the left below. However, when I was returning home in the evening there were many that were looking like in the picture to theright below. And some trees had started to get clusters of flowers 🙂

There will probably be quite a few hanami-parties along the river this weekend. This was confirmed once I got closer to home as people had started to reserv spaces with tape and name tags. And there was a group of foreign people having a party in the dark (no lights as we usually have due to the rolling blackout). I think they might have been from the Polish embassy that is within spitting distance from where we live, not that you necessarily want to spit at the Polish embassy 😉

Finally, anyone planning to come to Tokyo for sakura 2011? A good bet is that it will peak mid to late next week so you better start booking flights 🙂

Sakura Report #3

Today a few flowers could be seen. If you look closely at the picture below you can find a white spot in the upper right corner. The white spot is actually a flower.
