Preparing Flea Market for Tohoku

After work I rode my bike directly home where I met Chie, and we drove to Ishihara-san’s home. There we filled our car with donated clothes for this weekend’s flea market. We also filled up Ishihara-san’s car. When that was done I drove our car and Chie drove Ishihara-san’s car to the flea market.

Ishihara-san and some other have already started preparing when we arrived. After we had unloaded the cars Chie and I also helped hanging all the clothes. Though I am not improving much in terms of making decorations, Chie is. She folder sweaters, t-shirts and shirts, which she put on a table in piles. Everyone commented on how nice it looked 🙂

Preparation for Flea Market

Next weekend (October 15-16) we have another flea market coming up. Chie and I a preparing by going through our wardrobe and collecting the things we no longer use. Last time Chie did the same thing but we forgot to document it 🙂

Flea Market

Helped out carrying things to and from the flea market for Kobuchihama this weekend. There were a lot of stuff and we had to do 2.5 trips with 2 cars to get it all to the place where we had the flee market.

On Sunday evening there were still quite a few things remaining and it had to be packed into boxes again. Fortunately most of it could be stored at the location for the next flee market. In total we go almost 600.000 JPY during the two days :-), all to be used for the people in Kobuchihama to recover from the 3.11 earthquake and tsunami. See some details here (Japanese).

Preparation for Flea Market

Some new friends that are arranging with relief help for Tohoku earthquake victims ar preparing a charity flea market this weekend. After work today, Chie and I went there to help them bring all the stuff to the flea market place.

Chie got there by car and I rode my bike there from the office, as it was the quickest way for me to get there. They have already packed everything into the car when I arrived, but at least I helped unloading the 3 cars that we needed to transport everything.

Once the cars were unload everything had to be arranged. Chie and I helped as much as we could, but we were dealing with people in the design and apparel business. Meaning, our (especially my) sense for how to present clothing in order to sell it was not living up to their standards 🙂

After a while I realized that and got to work with things I can do as good as the next guy or girl… Unfolding cardboard boxes and collecting and organizing plastic bags 😛

At 9:30 pm Chie and I decided we could not contribute much more. Besides, we had not had anything to eat since lunch time as we went directly from work to helping out preparing the charity flea market. Quite late we entered Yasaka for some yummy yaki-tori and some fun small talk with the owner Go-kun.

Charity Flea Market

This wekend there is a charity flea market in Ebisu/Naka-Meguro area. Ishihara-san who is the organizer of the group of people we have joined for Tohoku volunteer work will attend. Chie and I will help her set up on Friday evening, using the car.

If you are in the area during the weekend, feel free to drop by.
