A Not So Usual Day

Usually when we visit San Francisco to watch football we spend Saturday afternoon at Ricky’s and the evening preparing for our Sunday game tail gate party. But this year the weather forecast says heavy rain on game day. So this year we skip the tail gate party.

This means a lot more time to relax. So we spent the day eating lunch at Yuraku ramen. Then a visit to Raider Image to buy some Raider gears. And then some, but only some, grocery shopping before we spent the rest of the evening at the hotel watching college football.

Ricky’s

After a long day’s shopping with Kick-san we are now at Ricky’s Sports Bar with Shimura-san, and have just met with Stabler (first QB to win a championship for Raiders), Gradkowski (currently fighting to be starting QB) and Bush (power running back). They were all very nice and friendly men, though with shoulder pad and helmet on they look kind of mean 🙂

Mash-san talking with Ken Stabler.

We had a lot of typical American sports bar food for dinner. But the remaining memory of the evening is our visits with former and current players of the Raiders.

Honolulu Airport

Sitting in the Delta Sky Lounge at the Honolulu airport waiting for the call to start boarding. Trying to make my iPad download Robin Hood rental movie from iTunes so I have something to watch, but it is slow.

In an hour or so we will have to leave for our boarding.

Last Day in Kauai

Last day in Kauai for this time. We went to our favorite beach, Kiahuna, to play in the waves. Today it was quite big waves and Chie brought the boggy board. I just use my body to surf the waves 🙂

We spent the whole day at Kiahuna beach. Readin. Playing and swimming in the water. Relaxing. But not wishing we could stay longer because that is not the Hawaiian way.

The Hawaiian way is to care about the moment only and not about the future. So we enjoyed the moment, and tomorrow when we have to leave Kauai we start wishing we could stay a little longer.

In the evening we went home to take a quick shower and then we returned to Kiahuna. Where we had dinner at the Point. We had a dinner mainly so we could have nice drinks and not so much for the food that is usually better when we make it ourselves than eating out in US. Chie had a Mai Tai and I had a virgin Lava Flow.

After dinner we filled the tank in the car, $40 made it topped up. Then we tried some alternative routes back from Koloa town to Poipu but without luck so we went the usual way. Once back home it was packing to get ready for our early rise and drive to the airport tomorrow morning.
