Club Leo @ Pescaderia Ginza

Left office at 5:30 pm. Directly after a meeting. As usual I used the Yamanote-sen, but today I went in the opposite direction to Yurakucho. Meeting Chie and Club Leo at POescaderia at 7 pm.

First I stopped at Tokyu Hands (yes, Tokyu as in the company Tokyu and not Tokyo as this small town is called :-)). I needed some more paint for the repainting job I am doing in Chie’s appartment. And I wanted a new brush as well.

Then I got lost in Ginza. Or rather I could not find my way to Pescaderia. It was a long time since I last visited and I mistook which area it is located in.

A phone call to Chie and I was on my way. Last to arrive. But we still had a good time. With good food. And celebrating Non’s birthday.

Happy Birthday Non! Club Leo

Afterwards Chie and I took the subway home and taxi from Naka-meguro station. We were too tired after a long workweek to walk home.

Thaini Kitchen

Chie and I met Club Leo in Roppongi Hills at 1:20 pm. Today we watched the Benjamin Button movie at the Toho Cinema theater. It was an odd movie but quite good. It made you think about life and death.

Afterwards we took the subway to Ebisu where we changed to the JR Yamate-sen to Shinagawa. At Shinagawa we changed again to Keikyu-sen. We got off at the Omorikaigen. And was a bit lost. We found a map that not only had “You are here” marked in the wrong place but it was turned around so it was really difficult to find where we should go.

Eventually we found what direction to go in. But then we had to ask a few people to find our way to Thaini Kitchen. A small Thai restaurant with great Thai food. Spicy. Fresh.

Ryo and Non Johan and Chie

Either it was the warm weather during the day or it was some spices in the food, but Ryo got some of allergic reaction and her nose started to run. Not around like a dog would run but more like a waterfall would run.

Actually, in Japanese a runny nose is called はなみず (hana-mizu) which basically means nose water. Inspired by Ryo’s nose water we invented a new Japanese word はなたき (hana-taki) which means nose waterfall. I think everyone had a fun time making jokes about her nose the whole evening. Except maybe Ryo. Or at least I can understand she had a tough time with her nose… But she could keep from laughing at our nose jokes.

Before leaving I gave Ryo and Non chocolate cookies as a White Day gift.

White Day gifts

In Japan Valentine’s Day (14th of February) is the day when girls give boys chocolate or some other gift, which is a little bit different from the rest of the world. But on White Day (14th of March) it is the boys turn to give the girls chocolate or some other gift. Quite fair I think… Though I like the Japanese Valentine’s Day better 😉

Club Leo at Pescaderia

Chie and I met Non-san and Ryo-san outside the Picadilly movie theater at Seibu department store in Ginza at 3:45 pm today. They are Club Leo and I am kind of their member of honor or maybe a mascot. The club started a long time ago as a fan club to Leonardo DiCaprio. Though they are still fans of Leo it has grown into something more than just a Leo fan club. Friendship and monthly meeting with movie and dinner.

Today we saw Body of Lies, Leo’s latest movies about CIA agent and terrorism. It was a really good movie that I think had an undertone of chritisims of how USA is treating the so called terrorists.

After the movie we continued to Pescaderia in Ginza where we had a great dinner. And to complete a great evening we had a great desert. Or rather I had three great deserts. Apple pie with vanilla ice cream. And two cinamon ice creams. The cinamon ice cream was a special request from me a month ago, when Club Leo went to Pescaderia after having dinner together at another place. We were quite surprised that the chef had remembered our request.
